2016 Tony Awards date announced

The Tony Awards ceremony already has a date for 2016.

The annual gala honoring the best on Broadway will be held on June 5, airing live from New York City on CBS from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. ET.

At this point, it's unclear which New York venue will host the awards show. In the past, Radio City Music Hall has been home to the Tonys. But as The Associated Press points out, MSG Entertainment said it will be using Radio City for its "New York Spring Spectacular" from June 15 through Aug. 7. Although the dates don't overlap, June 5 does interfere with rehearsals.

Next year marks the 70th anniversary of the Tony Awards, which were first held on April 6, 1947 at the Waldorf Astoria's Grand Ballroom.
