The Nobel panel can’t seem to track down Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan’s reaction to his Nobel Prize honor is still a mystery -- even to the group that honored him.

Bob Dylan awarded Nobel Literature Prize

Dylan has been keeping mum about the honor publicly -- making no mention of it during his first concert following the announcement -- and apparently that silence has extended to the people who made him a Nobel laureate.

Swedish Academy secretary Sara Danius revealed Monday that the organization -- which decides the recipients of the prizes every year -- has been unable to reach Dylan following the announcement that he’d become the first musician to be awarded the Nobel Prize for literature.

“Right now we are doing nothing. I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough,” Danius told state radio SR.

Newly minted Nobel laureates are expected to attend a banquet in Stockholm, with this year’s taking place December 10. Dylan’s lack of response means he also hasn’t RSVP’d for the event.

“If he doesn’t want to come, he won’t come. It will be a big party in any case and the honor belongs to him,” Danius said.

Still, she remains optimistic.

“I am not at all worried,” Danius said. “I think he will show up.”
