"The Interview" to begin streaming on Netflix

Starting this weekend, you can watch "The Interview" on Netflix.

The streaming video service will begin offering the controversial North Korea comedy to its subscribers on Jan. 24, it announced Tuesday as part of its fourth-quarter earnings report.

Online success of "The Interview" an anomaly

"The Interview," starring James Franco and Seth Rogen, was pulled from movie theaters by Sony Pictures in the wake of hackers' threats, but the studio later reversed course and ended up releasing the film in independent theaters and to rent or buy on Google Play, YouTube Movies, iTunes and other online platforms.

The film will available to Netflix customers in the U.S. and Canada, the company said.

As of Tuesday, "The Interview" has grossed more than $40 million in online sales, while its theatrical showings have earned more than $6 million at the box office.
