The all-female "Ocean's 8" gets a release date

Fans eager to see how the lady-led heist film “Ocean’s 8” will fare will have to wait.

Warner Bros. announced Wednesday that the all-star film will be released June 8, 2018 -- just 30 months away.

“Ocean’s 8” will have an impressive cast, led by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Rihanna. Also on board are Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, rapper Awkwafina and Sarah Paulson. Gary Ross (“The Hunger Games,” “Seabiscuit”) will direct.

Ross previously hinted that the film would be a continuation of the George Clooney-led trilogy started with “Ocean’s 11” in 2001, despite the film having a lower number in the title.

“It’s a pretty similar,” Ross told Slashfilm. “Steven Soderbergh and I are incredibly close friends, and we would not have done this if we weren’t. I don’t think he would’ve wanted anyone to do it if we weren’t. This is very much an extension and a continuation.”
