Woman gets prison for putting gun in boy's backpack

CONROE, Texas -- A Texas woman will serve three years in prison for putting her boyfriend's gun in his son's backpack, in order to get the child in trouble.

Heather Hodges, 28, of Anderson, Texas was sentenced Thursday. Investigators say Hodges believed the 13-year-old boy had mistreated her own two young children.

An anonymous phone call, later linked to Hodges, led to the gun being found in the boy's backpack at Magnolia Junior High School about 40 miles northwest of Houston.

She pleaded guilty to unlawful carrying of a weapon on restricted premises in the 2012 case.

Nobody was hurt.
