Texas boy, 8, killed by car while running from wasps

LEWISVILLE, Texas - Police say an 8-year-old boy running from wasps was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle in North Texas.

Lewisville police say the boy was playing with friends Sunday afternoon in a mobile home park when they disturbed a wasp nest. They ran away to avoid being stung.

A 20-year-old woman driving the SUV hit the boy when he ran across her path. CBS Dallas reports he boy has been identified as Alexander Ramirez.

No charges have been filed and the incident is under investigation. The driver, however, was ticketed for not having insurance.

Police say intoxication and excessive speed are not factors in the death.
