Teenage boy dead after falling from Wisconsin water slide

LAKE DELTON, Wis. — A teenage boy is dead after falling from a large outdoor water slide in the Wisconsin Dells that was not open to the public.

Lake Delton police said the boy, along with two other juveniles, entered a restricted area at Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park on Wednesday night, CBS Milwaukee affiliate WDJT reported. The area was closed for the season, surrounded by a fence and padlocked.

The three then climbed one of the water slides and attempted to ride the slide on the snow that had accumulated. The teenager, whose name was not released, slipped off the slide and fell 35 feet to the ground, WDJT reported. The Sauk County coroner’s office is planning an autopsy.

The Associated Press reports the 16-year-old was visiting from Florida with his family, and was out sledding with his brother and a friend when the accident occurred.
