Teen suspect due in court in killing of Wash. girl, 6

BREMERTON, Wash. - A teenager arrested in the death and sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl is due in juvenile court Monday, reports CBS affiliate KIRO.

The unidentified suspect allegedly raped and murdered Jenise Wright, whose body was found Thursday near the mobile home park in Bremerton, Wash. where she lived.

The girl had gone missing five days earlier.

The 17-year-old, who lives just around the corner from the victim's home, is scheduled to make his first appearance in Kitsap County Juvenile Court on Monday afternoon, according to the station.

KIRO reports neighbors at the Steele Creek Mobile Home Park watched as the teen was taken into custody Saturday afternoon. Authorities have also removed three vehicles from the home where neighbors say the suspect lived.

"He seemed to be a fairly nice kid," Karen Gullickson told the station. "He always was pleasant. Other than that, I don't know anything about [him]."

Jenise's father, James Wright, reportedly told members of his church on Sunday that he can forgive the teenager for his alleged crimes, according to KIRO.

The station reports a memorial for Jenise will be held on Aug. 16.
