Taylor Swift previews new song "Welcome to New York"

Taylor Swift is in a New York state of mind.

The singer previewed the first track off her upcoming album, "1989," on Monday morning, and it's called "Welcome to New York."

"New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years," she explained in a video about the song. "I dreamt about moving to New York, I obsessed over moving to New York - and then I did it. The inspiration that I found in that city is kind of hard to describe and hard to compare to any other force of inspiration I've ever experienced in my life."

You can listen to a snippet of the song below, and it will be released in full on iTunes on Oct. 21. It's the third song Swift has unveiled from "1989" (which comes out Oct. 28), following "Out of the Woods" and "Shake It Off."
