Bernie Sanders: Campaign "is about transforming America"

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders rallied Tuesday night in Vermont, just as Super Tuesday polls closed and exit poll results flooded in.

"It is good to be home," Sanders said Tuesday, addressing a crowd of supporters in Essex Junction, Vermont. Earlier in the evening, CBS News projected Sanders as the victor in the state, with rival Hillary Clinton scoring wins in Georgia and Virginia.

"It does say something -- It means so much to me that the people who know me best... have voted so strongly to put us in the White House," he said. "Thank you so much."

During his speech, Sanders renewed his calls for political revolution in the White House race, asserting that "this campaign is not just about electing a president -- it is about transforming America.

"It is about making our great country the nation we know it has the potential to be," he added. "It is about dealing with some unpleasant truths that exist in America today and having the guts to confront those truths."

He touted his vision to "end a corrupt campaign finance system," "reform a broken criminal justice system," and to "transform our energy system."

And taking a jab at his opponent, he added, "I know that Secretary Clinton and the establishment people think I am looking and thinking too big. I don't think so."

Sanders predicted that "by the end of tonight, we are going to win many hundreds of delegates."

"We have come a very long way in ten months," he said, promising to look towards a long-term future. "At the end of tonight, fifteen states will have voted. Thirty-five states remain. Let me assure you -- we are going to take our fight....to every one of those states."
