Controversy over Super Bowl ad

With the Super Bowl XLIX kicking off this Sunday, that means catchy new advertisements will also be making an appearance.

From Budweiser's new "Lost Puppy" commercial to Kim Kardashian's selfie-inspired T-Mobile pitch, there will be more Super Bowl advertisements this year than ever before.

But one advertisement in particular has been causing quite a controversy, so much so that it was yanked from the Super Bowl.

In GoDaddy's ad "Journey Home," a golden retriever puppy named Buddy has to find his way back home after falling off a truck, trudging across bridges and through the rain.

When the puppy reaches his destination, he's greeted by a woman who says, "Buddy! I'm so glad you made it home... because I just sold you on this website I made with GoDaddy."

The ad ends with Buddy being loaded into a box on a truck while the woman yells, "Ship him out!"

The advertisement tried to spoof last year's Budweiser "Puppy Love" ad, but ended up getting negative feedback, especially from animal advocates.

In response, the SPCA of Monterey County, California tweeted:

After seeing the tweets, GoDaddy's CEO Blake Irving responded:

Despite the social media uproar over the ad, analysts expect about 110 million viewers to tune in on game day.
