In a week that was already packed with controversial cabinet confirmation hearings and presidential inaugural preparations, a bombshell dossier of political opposition research was made public. The documents alleges that Russian intelligence operatives have compromising personal and financial information about President- Elect Donald Trump. During his first press conference as President- Elect, Trump denied the validity of the report while challenging the integrity of both the intelligence community and the press.
This Sunday on “Face the Nation,” Vice President- Elect Mike Pence joins us to respond to the allegations from the dossier. With tensions running high between the future president and his intelligence agencies, how will Trump mend their deteriorating relationship? The president- elect will also lead a deeply divided nation and enters office with a low approval ratings. We’ll ask the future Vice President how he and Trump plan to win over Americans reluctant to support them.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich will also appear on Sunday’s broadcast. Gingrich, who has served as the Trump transition team’s Vice- Chair will discuss the new administration’s plans to push their aggressive agenda through a deeply divided congress – especially the promise to repeal and replace Obamacare with something better and cheaper.
On the Democratic side, we’ll speak to West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee. What actions is his committee prepared to take in its investigation of Russia’s hacks during the election. Manchin, one of the few Democrats who remain hopeful of a working relationship with Trump, will also talk about his plans to help the Republican’s repair Obamacare. What would he like to see change from the bill?
After the release of his new column on Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election, The Washington Post’s David Ignatius joins us to talk about the adversary nation. What early steps should the Trump Administration take in countering Russia as Trump himself begins to come to terms with Russia’s involvement? Will Trump continue with the measures Obama has already taken?
