Student vanishes on drive to University of Montana

HORSESHOE BEND, Idaho -- Police are searching for a University of Montana student who vanished while on a two-day drive from Idaho to the Missoula school last week.

Lucius Robbi, 21, was last seen Aug. 19 in Banks, Idaho, about an hour north of Boise. He had been driving to the school from Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, where he's worked the past two summers at Cascade Raft and Kayak, a river rafting company, reports the Idaho Statesman.

Robbi was expected to attend the university's orientation on Aug. 20. He never arrived.

New clues have emerged in recent days, including a possible sighting of Robbi's car --a green 1997 Subaru with California license plates 6CCP540 and one or two kayaks on top - on a gas station surveillance video in Garden Valley. The image was time stamped Aug. 19 at 2:23 p.m., reports CBS affiliate KBOI.

The car pictured appears similar to the Subaru and has a kayak on top. While it's not clear whether it's Robbi's, "(It) at least gives us a start point to where we need to search next," Kenneth Long, Robbi's supervisor at Cascade Raft and Kayak, told the station.

Long said that Robbi, who is originally from California, is a skilled kayaker and isn't the type to disappear without telling friends or family.

"Lucius is not the irresponsible type to get distracted and go hiking for a week because it caught his fancy or anything like that," Kenneth Long said.

If you have seen Robbi, or have any information about his possible whereabouts, you're asked to call the Boise County Sheriff's Office at (208) 392-4411.
