Store clerk - who doubles as boxer - defeats alleged robber

PITTSBURGH - Police say a man who tried to rob a 7-Eleven in Pittsburgh was confronted by the store clerk - who doubles as a boxing champion, reports CBS Pittsburgh.

Police say Leverett Johnson walked into the convenience store, which is on the University of Pittsburgh campus, looking to rob it. Instead, he was met by Eric Sydnor, who works as a clerk at the store but is also a Golden Gloves champion.

"He got slammed," Sydnor told CBS Pittsburgh of Johnson.

Syndor's trainer Jose Caraballo says Johnson "picked the wrong guy and store to walk into that night."

The young boxer came out of the fight unscathed, except for a few bite marks to the hands. Sydnor says he'll be fine and ready for the U.S. Olympic Boxing team trials.
