Stabbing at Md. church leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

FREDERICK, Md. -- A man stabbed two people, killing one of them at a Frederick, Md., counseling center Sunday, police said. The suspect, described as a 30-year-old male who had come from Northern Virginia, was taken into custody.

The Frederick County sheriff's office told CBS affiliate WUSA that the deceased victim was an adult male, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's wife was also stabbed and was taken to a shock trauma center in critical condition.

The incident took place at Anna Prayer Mountain Church, a Korean prayer center, according to Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins. The suspect himself called 911 and walked up a nearby roadway, where he was taken into custody without a struggle. The motive behind the stabbing remained unknown.

There was a congregation in place at the time of the stabbing, WUSA reported.

The suspect had been living at the property for about a week and had made a 911 call about something that took place there on Saturday. It is unclear what the nature of that call was.
