Rep: Custody agreement reached between Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt

LOS ANGELES -- Representatives for Angelina Jolie Pitt say she and estranged husband Brad Pitt have reached a custody agreement regarding their six children.

A statement released by a representative of the actress Monday night says the agreement was reached more than a week ago and calls for the children to remain in Jolie Pitt’s custody, with Pitt to continue to receive “therapeutic visits” with his children.

Jolie, 41, and Pitt, 52, were married just over two years ago but had been together for more than a decade. ET Online had previously quoted sources saying the couple struggled with differences in parenting styles for their six kids – Maddox, Shiloh, Pax, Zahara, and twins Vivienne and Knox – who range in age from 8 to 15.

The actress filed for divorce in September, citing irreconcilable differences and saying it was for the health of the family. She sought sole physical custody, and Pitt asked a court last week to award joint custody.

“We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family and ask for your consideration during this difficult time,” Monday’s statement said.

A representative for Pitt declined comment.

The statement says both side are committed to healing the family.

Messages sent to Pitt’s representatives were not immediately returned.

Pitt’s filing does not include any new details about the couple’s breakup. Pitt cited irreconcilable differences and makes no mention of a prenuptial agreement that will govern how the pair divides their assets. He also cites Sept. 15 as the day of their separation, one day after the alleged plane altercation between Pitt and his 15-year-old son, Maddox.

Pitt was accused of being abusive toward the teenager, sources told The Associated Press, but authorities were not notified when the plane landed in Minnesota. Several sources said the incident was being investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, but the agency said it could not confirm whether it was involved.
