Solar flare captured by NASA observatory

NASA released a spectacular video on Sunday of a flare erupting from the sun.

The eruption of the mid-level flare, which NASA described as "graceful" on their YouTube channel, took place on April 2, 2014 and reached its peak at 10:05 a.m. ET.

The video from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory shows the flare in a blend of two wavelengths of extreme ultraviolet light colorized in yellow and red. NASA called it a mid-level flare, measured at M6.5.
