S.C. police investigate homicide of sex offender

LORIS, S.C. -- Authorities in Horry County, S.C., are searching for clues in the death of a registered sex offender whose body was found on abandoned property, reports CBS affiliate WSPA.

Dashadre Jacorey Sampson was discovered around 5 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

There is no word on when the 21-year-old Myrtle Beach, S.C. resident may have died before being found.

Sampson was listed as a registered sex offender due to criminal solicitation of a minor, according to the state's sex offender registry. WSPA reports he has faced several criminal sexual conduct charges as well as other related charges.

An autopsy will be conducted Friday to determine cause of death.
