Snowplow truck kills nurse in suburban Chicago

BARRINGTON, Ill.  - The Lake County sheriff's office says a nurse at a suburban Chicago hospital was killed when she was struck by snowplow truck as she headed for work.

Authorities say the truck was moving in reverse early Wednesday in the parking lot of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington when it struck 51-year-old Diane Shogren of Ingleside. Coroner Thomas Rudd said Shogren died at the scene of the incident.

Authorities say it was snowing heavily at the time of the incident. Amber lights, reverse lights and a backup alarm on the truck were working after the incident.

Good Shepard vice president the Rev. Fred Rajan said the driver of the truck, who remains unidentified, is also an employee of the hospital.

Authorities say the sheriff's office continues to investigate the incident.
