Snow plow driver attacked by man with shovel, say Mass. police

SOMERVILLE, Mass. -- A Massachusetts man was arrested Sunday after allegedly attacking a snow plow driver with a shovel.

The Boston Globe reported that an official said the man, not named by police, attacked the driver and the snow plow with a shovel in his hand around 1 p.m. The driver was injured, but did not go to the hospital, says Somerville Police Lieutenant James Rooney.

He also told the paper that fellow citizens in the small city near Boston should be working with the people who are trying to clear their street -- not fighting with them.

The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday on charges assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property over $250, according to the Boston Globe.

Boston and many surrounding areas have received more than 90 inches of snow this winter -- that's over 7 feet -- with much of that accumulating in the last 3 to 4 weeks.
