Six arrested in Calif. for allegedly impersonating police

TEMECULA, Calif. - Authorities say they arrested six teens accused of posing as Southern California police officers who allegedly ordered people out of their cars by using megaphones and high-powered flashlights.

The teens allegedly ordered the victims to lie face down on the pavement and then drove away.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says 18-year-old Mason Gonzalez of Temecula has been arrested as well as three girls and two boys. Authorities said they first received reports of the alleged pranks on Dec. 23.

There were no attempts to harm or rob the victims during the incidents, police said.

According to CBS Los Angeles, police were able to track down the suspects after receiving a tip that one of the alleged pranks had been filmed and the video had been posted on a social media website.

There was no phone listing for Gonzalez and he couldn't immediately be reached.

Temecula is about 50 miles from San Diego.
