Cops: Shooting at Fla. college; 2 injured, including suspect

PALM BAY, Fla. - Police say that a man being attacked by two others shot and critically injured one alleged attacker on the campus of Eastern Florida State College in Brevard County, Fla. Thursday, reports CBS affiliate WKMG

The shooter was also taken to the hospital for injuries that occurred prior to the shooting and a third person involved in the incident is being questioned, according to a police spokesperson.

The school is currently in lockdown. Authorities say the scene is secure and the investigation is ongoing.

Police said the man who was being beat up fired his gun and wounded one person in the chest, reports the station. The person critically injured with a gunshot wound was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, police said.

An alert on the school's website says, "Shooting reported in parking lot of Palm Bay Campus. Campus is locked down. Remain indoors, with doors locked until further notice."

Eastern Florida State College was formerly known as Brevard Community College.
