Shooting outside Conn. club caught on video; Suspect arrested

STAMFORD, Conn. - A Connecticut man has been arrested on charges he sprayed gunfire into a crowd outside a downtown Stamford, Conn. nightclub, injuring five in a chaotic scene captured on video.

Police say none of the injuries early Sunday morning were life-threatening.

Dayron Wills, 22, was charged with five counts of first-degree assault and was held on $1 million bond.

Police in the area heard the gunshots at about 1:30 a.m. and found that four men and a woman were shot.

CBS affiliate WFSB reports that after his arrest, Wills admitted to being involved in the shooting and said he dropped his loaded handgun near where the incident took place.

CBS Connecticut reports police say about 20 people were punching and kicking each other just before the shots rang out. According to the station, Wills told police he was watching the melee and only began firing after one of the men struck him.

The video taken on a mobile phone by someone standing near the shooter is dark and blurry. The gunman can be seen firing his weapon dozens of times into the crowd as people flee for cover.

Police said Wills has a valid pistol permit and was legally registered to carry the weapon.
