NY woman charged with murder in death of newborn

GLEN HEAD, N.Y. --A Long Island woman was arraigned Saturday in connection with the death of her newborn baby, reports CBS New York.

Sharon Seudat, 20, is being held on $1 million bond. She was arrested Friday in Glen Head, New York, and charged with second-degree murder, police said.

Nassau County Detective Captain John Azzata said officers were called Thursday morning to Sedaut's home, where they found Sedaut bleeding profusely.

He said a doctor later realized she had given birth.

Investigators found the baby's lifeless body in black plastic bag at the home. Azzata said the child was born alive and was suffocated.

Police said Seudat, who hid the pregnancy from her parents, initially denied giving birth.
