Seven arrested after cafeteria brawl at Baltimore high school

BALTIMORE -- Cell phone video of a wild brawl on Tuesday afternoon in a Baltimore high school shows students grappling amid panicked screaming, as bystanders try to avoid the melee.

Overlea High School officials and police can be seen in the video, which was obtained by CBS Baltimore, attempting to break up multiple confrontations. Police arrested seven students after the fight.

Students told CBS Baltimore the brawl started suddenly and spread fast.

"Terrifying, like it was hitting quick, like anybody could have got popped," one student told CBS Baltimore.

"I thought I was going to get hit. I was scared," another student said.

The Baltimore County Police Department has been contacting students and reviewing all possible leads, according to Corporal John Wachter. He added that there's no indication the fight was connected with gang activity.

The seven students arrested are between 16 and 19 years old, and face charges ranging from disorderly conduct to second-degree assault.
