Sequins rule at Golden Globe Awards 2016

It's not surprising that many stars went for gilded looks at the Golden Globe Awards show.

"Room" actress Brie Larson joked that she herself looked like a Golden Globe award in her gold sequined halter gown with cutouts that showed off her abs. Rosie Huntington-Whitely wore a similar gold sequined dress with a different cut; the spaghetti-strap dress had a low neckline and a simple silhouette.

Regina King's gold sequined dress was a little different, with swirls of sequins in several shades of gold and silver with a sheer white floor-length cape in the back.

Eva Green skipped out on sequins, but stuck to the gold theme in a gilded sheer lace dress.

Felicity Huffman went for sequins as well, but chose maroon for her dress that boasted a detailed lace neckline, and Jenna Dewan-Tatum wore a purple sequined gown.

Kate Hudson's Golden Globes outfit was particularly bold: She wore a three-piece nude sequined getup that included a choker, a crop top and a long skirt.

Several stars also opted for white hot: "Brooklyn" star Saoirse Ronan wore a Grecian-inspired white column dress, while Laverne Cox looked stunning in a white boatneck dress that was fitted on the top to open up to a long train -- she showed off some skin with a low backline instead. "Empire" star Taraji P. Henson wore a simple, fitted white strapless dress.

Alicia Vikander also wore white, but stood out in a pleated, ruffled take.

Though most actresses wore column silhouettes, several stars wore gowns with full skirts: Gina Rodriguez shone in a navy, off-the-shoulder gown, while Jaimie Alexander wore a futuristic green patterned gown with a plunging neckline and Amy Schumer wore a classic black and white satin gown.
