See the first featurette for "Twin Peaks" season 3

"Twin Peaks" to return to TV

"Twin Peaks" fans have been waiting a long time for season 3 -- 14 years and counting.

The series will return for a third season in 2017, this time to Showtime, and a promotional featurette was finally released on Friday.

Don't be alarmed when you don't hear the iconic "Twin Peaks" theme song at first; just be patient and you'll hear the familiar tune soon enough. A voiceover describes the town of Twin Peaks and its "holy places," but the featurette doesn't reveal much.

It does show the "Welcome to Twin Peaks" sign, though, and a very blurry clip of someone who appears to be series creator and cast member David Lynch.

There are very few details on the upcoming reboot, but Kyle MacLachlan is confirmed to reprise his role as FBI agent Dale Cooper.
