Santa and Mrs. Claus help battle blaze at Utah aquarium

SALT LAKE CITY - Firefighters got some help from Santa during a weekend fire at a Salt Lake City-area aquarium.

Unified Fire Authority spokesman Chris Atkin says a fire started on the roof of Draper's Loveland Living Planet Aquarium early Sunday afternoon. That happened to be the same time one of the department's fire inspectors was playing Santa Claus for a Christmas party there.

So Santa and Mrs. Claus helped evacuate visitors and staff while fire crews extinguished the kitchen fire, reports CBS affiliate KUTV in Salt Lake City.

"We just helped walk everyone down. Clearing out the upper floor, with all the employees, and getting everybody out and safe," said Mrs. Claus.

Santa said the reindeer were in no way involved in the incident, adding: "The reindeer only come out one day a year. And that's Christmas Eve."

Aquarium officials say no animals were injured in the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
