Ruby slippers, replica of "Wizard of Oz" footwear, stolen
NEW YORK - This time the "Ruby Slippers" weren't taken from the Wicked Witch of the East, but were stolen from a Staten Island hotel.
CBS New York reports police are looking for a woman they say lifted a replica pair of the famous shoes from the "Wizard of Oz" movie - a replica valued at an estimated $2,500.
Authorities said the woman removed the slippers from a display case in the lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel located at 1100 South Ave. in Staten Island on March 3.
