Rosie O'Donnell's daughter Chelsea was "of sound mind," police say

Rosie O'Donnell's daughter found safe

Police in the New York village where Rosie O'Donnell lives said her teenage daughter was "of sound mind" when she was found in New Jersey after a week of being incommunicado.

Sgt. Daniel Wilson of the South Nyack police said Chelsea O'Donnell left her home Aug. 11 and was reported missing to police Aug. 16. The village is about 25 miles north of New York City.

Law enforcement found Chelsea in Barnegat, at the house of a male she was "recently acquainted with." Officials said she willingly left with authorities.

O'Donnell said her daughter had not been taking needed medication, and her spokeswoman said that Chelsea suffers from mental illness.

Police said Chelsea declined medical attention.

O'Donnell took to Twitter Tuesday with the news that Chelsea was missing, and later updated her account after getting word that she was found:
