Judge throws out murder indictment in pastor's death

LAKE CHARLES, La. - A Louisiana judge has thrown out a murder indictment against a man accused of killing a Lake Charles pastor over the alleged rape of the man's wife.

A local television station reports Judge Clayton Davis made the ruling Tuesday.

Woodrow Karey allegedly shot pastor Ronald Harris in 2013 at the Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center during a revival service.

Two days earlier, Karey's wife had filed a rape complaint against Harris.

Authorities say there was a relationship between Karey's wife and Harris, but did not say whether it was consensual.

A defense attorney for Woodrow Karey had claimed the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office reneged on a deal by presenting the case to a second grand jury.

Karey remains in custody. The DA's office hasn't commented on the ruling.
