Rob Lowe set to star in “Super Troopers 2”

Former “The Grinder” star Rob Lowe is going from getting roasted on Comedy Central to being a mayor in Quebec.

Lowe has joined the cast of “Super Troopers 2,” which recently began filming in the Boston area, according to Deadline

In the sequel to Broken Lizard’s cult-favorite comedy “Super Troopers,” Lowe will appear as Guy Le Franc, the mayor of a Quebec border town and a former hockey star.

The Broken Lizard comedy team raised more than $4.5 million on Indiegogo last year to make “Super Troopers 2” a reality. They initially set out to raise $2 million. The film will be released in the U.S. by Fox Searchlight, with Broken Lizard regulars Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Kevin Heffernan, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske starring.
