Ricky Gervais returns to host the Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais will return to the Golden Globes stage.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and NBC announced Monday that the actor/comedian will emcee the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards, set for Jan. 10 on NBC. Gervais also chimed on Twitter, writing that his "only guarantee is that not everyone will enjoy it as much as me."

Gervais is no stranger to the Golden Globes stage. He hosted from 2010-2012, garnering plenty of laughs and even pushing the envelope with some of his bits.

"Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor -- and send up -- the best work of the year in film and television," Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement. "Fasten your seat belts."
