Freed killer, child molester arrested at Indianapolis Library

CHICAGO - Convicted murderer and child molester Richard Dobeski was arrested at the Indianapolis Central Library on Thursday, reports CBS Chicago.

Dobeski, 67, served nearly 40 years in prison for stabbing and strangling two children - ages 3 and 6 - in 1964, when he was 16.

He was released on parole in 2003, and then later went back to prison for molesting a boy in Westville in 2007, according to the station.

He was reportedly released last Thursday from prison in Northwest Indiana after serving his sentence on the molestation conviction.

The details surrounding his latest arrest were not immediately available, but Dobeski had seven days to register as a sex offender or face going back behind bars, reports the station. Thursday was the deadline.

Since his release, authorities had been tracking Dobeski's movements, reports CBS Chicago.

"Yes, I think he's a danger to the public," Lt. Todd Bulls of Long Beach Police told the station last week. "He's a sex offender and evidently he doesn't have any regard for human life."

He had reportedly traveled by bus to Indianapolis after his prison release.
