Alleged gunman killed by police on construction site rooftop in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO -- Police in San Francisco shot and killed a gunman at St. Luke's Hospital in the Mission District after the man appeared on an elevator tower on a construction site, reports CBS San Francisco.

Police responded to St. Luke's Hospital around 4 p.m. after reports of a man possibly with a long gun in the area, CBS San Francisco reported. Police cleared a two block area around the scene.

Police reportedly shot and killed the suspect while he was on top of the elevator.

A local business owner said he heard two gunshots around 4:30 p.m. that came from a side of the hospital that is covered in scaffolding. St. Luke's was put on lockdown.

No further details on any injuries were immediately available.
