Caitlyn Jenner's rep responds to de-transitioning report

Report: Caitlyn Jenner may "de-transition"

Update: A rep for Caitlyn Jenner slammed the report from TheWrap, telling the Daily News, "Not worth commenting on such an idiotic report. Of course it's not true."

Caitlyn Jenner is one of the most prominent figures in the transgender community, but writer Ian Halperin says the road has been very challenging for the reality star.

Halperin, who wrote "Kardashian Dynasty: The Controversial Rise of America's Royal Family," said that multiple sources told him that Jenner has been miserable since her transition and is thinking about de-transitioning back to a man.

"One source confirmed to me Caitlyn has made whispers of 'sex change regret,' hinting she might go back to being Bruce Jenner," Halperin told TheWrap.

Apparently, Jenner was "thrilled" to help open up the conversation around transgender issues, but she has been very unhappy.

"It hasn't been easy for Caitlyn, it's been very hard," a source told Halperin. "She's thrilled she has raised awareness about how transgender people have long been discriminated against but I think there's a chance she'll de-transition in the next couple years. I don't think it would surprise anybody in her inner circle. It has been much harder than she anticipated. My heart goes out to her and I know her true friends will be there to support her on whatever path she chooses."

Sources told Halperin that one reason for de-transitioning is that she is still interested in women, though she recently said on "I Am Cait," "I don't see myself dating women in the future."

Halperin believes that Jenner may de-transition in the next couple of years. Jenner did tell Vanity Fair last June that she panicked after her facial-feminization surgery, and thought, "What did I just do? What did I just do to myself?"

Sources say Jenner plans to tell the public that she has been happy to champion transgender rights, even if she does de-transition.
