Man arrested after allegedly opening fire in Illinois health clinic

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- A man was taken into custody after allegedly opening fire in a northern Illinois health clinic Monday, police say, reports CBS Rockford affiliate WIFR.

Authorities in Rockford say a male in his 30s allegedly fired several shots inside the Crusader Clinic Monday afternoon, but no one was injured.

Shortly after the incident was reported, negotiators responded to the scene and officials established communication with the suspect, according to police.

Police blocked off the area and those in nearby buildings were told to stay inside, the station reported.

The alleged shooter, who has not been identified, was ultimately taken into custody. According to WIFR, employees of the health center did not recognize the suspect.
