Report: Long Island mom found dead a "victim of violence"

FARMINGVILLE, N.Y. -- A 36-year-old mother of two found dead in her Long Island home Sunday was a "victim of violence," Suffolk County police said, reports CBS New York.

A nephew found Monica Lino dead on the first floor of her Farmingville home around 3 p.m. Sunday, reports the station. Police haven't released details about how she was killed.

Lino's black Volkswagen Jetta was found crashed and abandoned in a food market lot in Merrick, another Long Island town about 40 miles west of Farmingville, reports the station.

A woman who said she was Lino's aunt told the station Lino's son and daughter are in their native Portugal for the month visiting relatives. The woman said Lino's husband committed suicide a few years ago.

Next door neighbor Melissa Tanzi told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera that Lino had recently begun dating a man.

"He was very new, only the past couple of weeks, but I didn't get a good vibe at all from him," Tanzi told the station.

No arrests have yet been made in the case, reports the station.
