Report: Human remains found in box near Mass. road

DUXBURY, Mass. -- A box found wrapped in cellophane on the side of a Massachusetts road Sunday contained human remains, a medical examiner has confirmed, reports CBS Boston.

Hector Rodriguez and his son Chandler made the gruesome discovery Sunday morning in a grassy area near an intersection in Duxbury, about 35 miles south of Boston.

State police are investigating.

"After moving it we realized this is very heavy, it smells wrong, something's not right," Chandler Rodriguez told the station. The two called police, and bomb squad and hazmat teams were called out to the scene, reports the station.

An autopsy will be performed to determined the cause of death and the victim's identity. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 508-923-4205 or the Duxbury police at 781-934-5656.
