Reality TV show busts "contractor" who pleads guilty

IRVINE, Calif. - A 66-year-old Irvine, Calif. man was sentenced to 190 days in jail for operating without a contractor's license after being busted by the reality TV show "Catch a Contractor," reports CBS Los Angeles.

Myron Barker pleaded guilty last week in an Orange County courtroom to operating without a contractor's license for the second time.

CBS Los Angeles spoke with Judy and Dave Wislocki, homeowners who said Barker left them high and dry after they paid him $22,000 for a kitchen remodeling job.

"He's getting what he deserves. Totally," said Judy Wislocki. "We thought he was a really nice guy and we trusted him."

The Wislockis said they were so frustrated they contacted the producers of the Spike TV reality show "Catch a Contractor."

In an episode that aired this spring, show host Adam Carolla, a professional contractor and the Wislockis confronted Barker.

Judy Wislocki says she hopes Barker's conviction sends a clear message.

"Their prosecuting Myron is by far the best thing they could do to keep him away from other homeowners," she told CBS Los Angeles.

Barker has to surrender to the Orange County Jail by January 16, reports the station. An assistant DA in the case says Barker will have to serve a minimum of 95 days behind bars, plus pay $10,000 in restitution to the victims, according to the station.
