Reality TV star who lost king cobra asks for jury trial

OCOEE, Fla. --A man charged with a misdemeanor for not reporting the escape of his venomous king cobra in a timely manner waived an arraignment hearing scheduled for Wednesday and asked for a jury trial, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Mike Kennedy is accused of waiting more than two days before reporting the Sept. 1 escape of the snake to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. Kennedy is a cast member of the Discovery Channel show "Airplane Repo."

The snake is still on the loose. Kennedy has set up box traps around his property in an effort to trap the cobra with no success, WKMG reports.

State officials stopped actively searching for the missing king cobra weeks after its snake's escape.
