Cops: Remains found of woman who vanished after leaving abusive husband

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - The remains of a woman who was staying with her family in Florida before going missing on Nov. 27 have been found in Tennessee, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Rachael Madison, 44, was reported missing by Thelma Newsom, her aunt, on after she didn’t come home from a jog. Her family said Madison came to Ormond Beach, Florida from Indiana just before Thanksgiving to get away from her allegedly abusive husband.

Investigators say the husband, 58-year-old Jarvis Madison, called his wife’s relatives inquiring about her whereabouts and had threatened to kill her aunt for hiding her. Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies told local news outlets earlier this week they were concerned for her well-being because of past incidents of violence.

Jarvis Madison was taken into custody Friday morning in Kentucky, and he allegedly gave police information leading investigators to a remote area near Knoxville, Tennessee, where Rachael’s remains were found Friday evening, FBI Public affairs specialist Amanda Warford Videll said.

Jarvis Madison is being held without bond in the Clark County jail.
