Bobby Brown asks for privacy as daughter fights for her life

Bobbi Kristina Brown in a fight for her life

ATLANTA - R&B singer Bobby Brown spoke out Sunday about his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, who remains hospitalized after authorities say she was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub in a suburban Atlanta home.

"Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time," Brown said in a statement to E! Online.

"The report that Bobbi Kristina Brown has been taken to the hospital in Atlanta, Georgia is accurate," his lawyer said. "No additional information will be forthcoming."

Bobbi Kristina is Brown's daughter by singer Whitney Houston, who died three years ago on the eve of the Grammy Awards, in eerily similar circumstances.

Lindsey Harber, a spokeswoman at North Fulton Hospital where authorities say the 21-year-old was taken, declined to comment Sunday.

Police in Roswell, Georgia, said Brown's husband, Nick Gordon, and a friend found her face-down in the tub and started CPR.

When police officers arrived on the scene in response to a 911 call at 10:25 a.m., they started life-saving measures until emergency medical services personnel arrived and transported Brown to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell.

CBS Atlanta affiliate WGCL reported Saturday that Brown had been placed in a medically induced coma. The hospital hasn't released any statements on her condition.

According to WGCL, police executed a search warrant for Brown's home but would not elaborate on the reason. So far, they have found nothing to indicate whether drugs or alcohol were a factor, the station said. It was unclear whether Gordon or anyone else was home when Brown became unresponsive.

"We are interviewing all the family members and friends that were at the house at the time," Holland told CBS Radio News. "...We don't know that if it was an accident or what this could be."

Police were called to the home Jan. 23 for a report of a fight, Holland said. When officers arrived, they found no one there.

Celebrities are offering their support and prayers for Brown.

La Toya Jackson is one of several celebrities who used Twitter to express her support.

Hip Hop star Missy Elliot expressed her concern for Brown in a tweet sent out Saturday.

According to a coroner's report, Whitney Houston accidentally drowned. Heart disease and cocaine use were listed as contributing factors.

Houston left her entire estate to her daughter.
