Prince William needs Kate's royal edict to take Prince George to soccer match

Prince William may soon have some company in his support of his favorite soccer team, Aston Villa -- if his wife allows it.

During a recent interview with the BBC, the Duke of Cambridge, 32, was asked when he'd take his son, Prince George, to his first soccer match.

"I don't know," he said, pausing, "I'll have to pass that by the missus, see how I can get away with it. At the moment being only 22-months, it's a little bit early."

"I'd love to be able to go to the old match with him and things in the future," he added, when both little George and his new little sister, Princess Charlotte, can follow the game.

Ahead of a tense Aston Villa vs. Arsenal match, the interviewer was curious to know if William will be recruiting his kids for much needed team support.

"The responsible thing would be to let him make his own mind up, but I think I might be a little bit biased. I haven't quite figured that one out yet," the prince replied, joking that he worries George could end up defecting to a rival team.

"It will probably end up being that Charlotte will be the Villa fan and George will go support someone else. That's probably what will happen," William said.
