Prince Harry, Michelle Obama team up to promote Invictus Games

Britain's Prince Harry is checking out the art and music therapy programs at a Virginia military base, where he is helping to draw attention to programs that help injured service members.

The prince was so impressed with the jazz and blues coming from a drums-and-keyboard duo that he joked, "If I played an instrument, I'd join the band."

One of the players credited the music therapy program with helping save his life.

The prince told injured U.S. veterans during his visit about his own deployments to Afghanistan.

"I am in no doubt that my two deployments to Afghanistan changed the direction of my life," he said. "There is very little that can truly prepare you for the reality of war. The experiences can be stark and long lasting."

Harry was accompanied by first lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, the wife of the vice president. Later Wednesday, the prince will visit with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office.

Prince Harry also is promoting the Invictus games, an international sporting competition for injured armed service personnel, with an event themed "Joining Forces." Harry spearheaded the games when they were first held in London last September. The next sporting competition will be held in Orlando, Florida next May.

He joined the first lady and Jill Biden to watch a basketball game played by the wounded warriors.
