How was your day? Pregnant woman mugged, then gives birth

FLINT, Mich. - Police say one afternoon last week a woman in Flint, Mich., was mugged by a purse snatcher, then helped chase down the thief, and then mere hours later she gave birth.

A very full day, indeed.

Flint police say the pregnant woman was putting groceries in her car last Thursday on the city's east side when an unarmed man grabbed her purse. She ran after him, but he pushed her down.

The Flint Journal reports two bystanders stopped the man and retrieved the woman's purse. The suspect tried to keep running but the woman's family got into the act and held him until police arrived.

The baby -- healthy -- arrived later in the day.

Arrested in the "pregnant purse-snatching" was 30-year-old Mark Newton. He was arraigned on one count of unarmed robbery and ordered held on $8,000 bond.
