Portland police investigate husband, wife double-homicide

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Detectives are investigating the deaths of an elderly husband and wife, found in their Portland home Thursday, as a double homicide, reports CBS affiliate KOIN.

The victims, both 65 years old, have lived in the home for decades, police said. The couple, whose identities have not yet been released, were killed violently, according to police.

Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson said their bodies were discovered Thursday at around 12:30 p.m.

"The first call we got today was someone who noted that they can see someone down at the home. What prompted them to call? I don't know," said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner is expected to conduct autopsies on both victims to determine the causes of death.

Authorities have not named a suspect in the deaths.
