Police: Wife of McDonald's millionaire died of blunt force trauma

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Police say the 83-year-old wife of a millionaire McDonald's franchisee was found dead at their suburban New York hilltop estate, and she died of blunt force trauma.

State police say Lois Colley was found dead Monday in her home in North Salem, in Westchester County. A caretaker at the 300-acre estate found Colley's body in the main house's laundry room.

Investigators believe she was the victim of a homicide. A small fire extinguisher was missing from the home, though police wouldn't say whether they believe it was used in Colley's death.

The Journal News reports that Colley's husband, Eugene, is known for his empire of roughly 100 McDonald's restaurants. Police said they don't know the husband's whereabouts.

They say he isn't considered a suspect in his wife's death.
