Police: Virginia man confessed to murdering parents, sister

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A man is facing three counts of first-degree murder after police discovered the bodies of his parents and sister in their Virginia home Wednesday evening, reports the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Carl Hughes IV, 28, allegedly confessed to killing his father, Carl Hughes Jr.; his mother, Angela Hughes; and his sister, Bianca Hughes, according to police.

CBS affiliate WTVR reports that the suspect, a father of two, was spotted on a bridge by Richmond police Wednesday night. He threatened to jump before confessing to killing his family, including his sister, his mother and his father, according to police.

After the alleged confession, officers were sent to Hughes' home, where the victims' bodies were discovered.
