Police: Stolen wallet ties suspects to Atlanta murders
ATLANTA -- Nearly three months after two men were killed in a robbery in Atlanta's Little Five Points commercial district, police have charged four suspects with the murders, reports CBS affiliate WGCL.
Police believe the suspects, including 25-year-old Thomas Dozier, were involved in killing Joseph Hruska and Chay Kelsey in the parking lot of The Vortex restaurant. Crimesider is not naming the three other suspects because they are minors.
Five people were reportedly robbed at gunpoint on March 14, including Mike Odier, whose wallet was stolen. Police say the suspects robbed Odier less than one hour before killing Hruska and Kelsey.
According to WGCL, it was Odier's stolen wallet that was key to finding the suspects. When Al Ramsey -- dubbed the "Good Samaritan" by police -- was walking his dog the morning after the killings, he reportedly found Odier's wallet and turned it in at a nearby bar.
Detectives were then able to connect the suspects who robbed Odier to the double murder.
"They could show a chain of evidence that it was stolen and about a block away from where it was dumped and that's about a half a block away from The Vortex, so that would be some connection there," Ramsey told the station.
Police say that Odier was able to identify the suspects, who are now facing murder charges.
